Barry began his executive recruitment career 25 years ago, with a world-leading international recruitment firm, quickly developing his skills and expertise in building relationships with a broad range of businesses. He specialised in senior finance and human resource appointments, establishing himself as a trusted advisor to major clients, delivering on their key mandates.
Having built a reputation for advising clients on senior executive appointments, Barry joined Howgate Sable as a Partner in 2004, and has continued to develop and broaden his track record in partnering public company, private equity backed, and privately owned enterprises in the appointment of key executive hires (ExCo & NED), across all group level functional areas.
Barry leads Howgate Sable’s Consumer Practice, working with leading brands, internationally, in the appointment of high-performing executives. He has developed long-standing client relationships, and recruited into sectors which include: consumer products, retail, telecommunications, travel and leisure, eCommerce, financial services and supply chain, whilst maintaining a strong functional expertise in the appointment of CEOs and CFOs, as well as their direct reports.
Global recruitment is one of Barry’s specialities, and he continues to successfully complete high profile mandates across Europe, North America, APAC, MENA, Sub-Sahara Africa, and South East Asia.
Outside of work, he has a passion for the ‘great outdoors’ and, alongside family and friends, is regularly walking the Lake District fells, or cycling mountain trails/country lanes. Enjoying a personal challenge, he has raced to marathon distance, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa and completed the Caledonian 100, a non-stop 100 km walk around the Ben Nevis range in less than 24 hours. In doing so, he has raised money for numerous charities.
