Barry Heald

Areas of special expertise: Barry has a breadth of experience in recruiting senior executives, with a particular expertise in Finance,HR,Sales & Marketing into the Consumer, Technology, Telecom, FMCG and general industry sectors. He has also handled searches on a pan-European basis and has successfully completed searches in North America and South East Asia.

Previous career: With more than 12 years experience in executive recruitment, Barry’s comprehensive UK-wide client base takes in FTSE companies and international groups, as well as independent and private equity backed organisations. He worked for 10 years with a leading international executive recruitment consultancy, focusing on the recruitment of senior finance professionals. He established that company’s HR recruitment practice in the North of England.

Keith Thompson

Areas of special expertise: Keith has built valuable contacts and strong alliances with search partners in Europe and North America, links that have helped make Howgate Sable a leading international recruiter. Keith is one of the most experienced executive search professionals in the sector, operating at a senior level across all industry sectors, functional disciplines and international boundaries.

Previous career: A graduate of Durham University, Keith has an MBA and is a Chartered Accountant. He began his career working as a Financial Controller in the power generation sector. He has more than 20 years experience in executive search, having spent nine years with Hoggett Bowers where he was UK Operations Director.

Alison Sharman

Areas of special expertise: Alison is our Director of Finance and Support Services. She plays a key role in the management of Howgate Sable, ensuring its infrastructure and resources meet the needs of the business.

Previous career: Alison is an Oxford University Mathematics graduate. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1988 and as a Chartered Tax Consultant in 1989 with Coopers & Lybrand. She subsequently developed her career as a Corporate Tax Manager, where her client base included a range of major quoted and public sector organisations.

Steve Banks

Joined Howgate Sable: 2005

Areas of special expertise: Steve’s successful 10-year career in executive search and selection has focused on Retail/Leisure, Technology and Professional Services sectors. His recent experience includes recruiting Managing Directors, and the full range of functional directors, with a concentration on sales & marketing, finance, HR and operations. Steve was appointed Managing Partner of the firm in July 2006.

Previous career: Steve began as an accountant in the manufacturing and technology sectors before entering the world of recruitment. He was Managing Director of Questor International, a search and selection business which he ran for eight years.

Rick White

Areas of special expertise: Rick has enjoyed significant success placing a large number of senior candidates across all disciplines and functions in the Travel, Aviation, New Media, Leisure, Hospitality and Retail sectors.

Previous career: Rick has an MSc in Psychotherapy and Counselling from London University’s Birkbeck College, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Travel & Tourism. Rick began his career in sales with the Ford Motor Company. He spent 15 years in the travel and leisure sectors working internationally for blue chip organisations including the Virgin Travel Group. This valuable Pan-European experience today plays a vital role in his European executive search assignments.

George Wealthall

Areas of special expertise: Hugely experienced, George has helped organisations identify, attract and retain people for Board positions, General Management and Functional Heads, in both the private and public sectors. He has more than 10 years experience at the highest levels of Senior Management and Executive search, nationally and internationally.

Previous career: George added an MBA from Henley Management College to his Leeds business degree. He began his career with Grand Met and followed this with a period in performance improvement consultancy prior to joining a start-up search firm. He spent a number of years in a leading UK search firm before joining Howgate Sable.

Davis Holmes

Areas of special expertise: David has worked across a wide range of industry sectors, focusing on Sales and Marketing, and HR roles. David has also conducted a number of specialist searches on an international basis.

Previous career: A graduate of Manchester University, David began his career with Marks & Spencer, becoming Commercial Manager at various locations across the country. In the late 1990s he switched to resourcing senior executive roles and with seven years experience in recruitment behind him, he joined Howgate Sable.

Christian Ward

Areas of special expertise: With far-reaching executive search experience in the Built Environment, Christian’s expertise takes in PFI/PPP, Learning and Development, Project Finance, Development, Investment, IT and Finance.

Previous career: Before launching his career within executive search, Christian worked in a sales and marketing capacity for L’Oreal, Coca-Cola and Rentokil Initial, and in the Real Estate industry at a senior level with Ernst and Young.

Rob Foreman

Areas of special expertise: Automotive, Retail and FMCG, but Rob’s strong commercial experience means he has a thorough understanding of executive recruitment.

Previous career: Rob graduated from Leeds University and began his career at Shell where he was involved in the downstream retail business, specialising in retail planning, sales, marketing, operations and procurement. Rob moved on to FMCG, and took strategic sales and marketing posts at Colgate Palmolive, SC Johnson and Nestle Purina. Before joining Howgate Sable he held key roles in the UK and mainland Europe with Groupe Michelin.

Martin Boyle

Previous Career: During 15 years in executive recruitment, Martin has recruited top flight executives from Board members to Senior Department Heads for a varied and demanding range of clients. Martin began his career with Bass Plc, then moved into Consultancy with KPMG and Norman Broadbent.

Areas of special expertise: Professional Services and Senior Finance are key areas for Paul, but his contacts mean he also actively advises on assignments across all industry sectors. With more than 20 years experience in executive search and recruitment, Paul has built up valuable long-term relationships with an impressive array of business leaders - executives who have successfully used his knowledge and contacts to appoint a comprehensive range of senior Board Directors and heads of function.

Previous career: After graduating from Oxford, Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant. He became a senior HR Manager at Coopers & Lybrand, and built a strong reputation as a search specialist with KPMG and Grosvenor Stewart. Paul founded the firm's London office.

Ian Gray

Areas of special expertise: Ian has focused on Retail and Consumer markets, as well as Professional Sport and Leisure. He has recruited at senior executive level - including Managing Directors, Country Managers and Divisional Directors - across the full range of senior functional roles, especially sales, marketing and store operations. He has also successfully completed numerous pan-European searches as well as assignments in North and South America.

Previous career: Ian's early career was spent within the FMCG sector in a variety of sales, marketing and business development roles. Ian’s executive search career has been spent with with The Miles Partnership as well as Howgate Sable.

Brendan Keelan

Areas of special expertise: Brendan has wide-ranging experience across all industries and disciplines, working up to board level with FTSE 100 businesses. His particular areas of functional expertise include HR, Marketing, Supply Chain and Sales.

Previous career: A postgraduate from the London School of Economics and a Fellow of the CIPD, Brendan developed his early career through various HR management positions with the BOC Group. He moved into consultancy with Ernst & Young and subsequently worked with MSL and Norman Broadbent.

Clio Demetriades

Areas of special expertise: A member of our Professional Services Team, Clio specialises in recruiting Partners and teams for law firms in the South of England. She recruits in all disciplines from Associate to Partner level.

Previous career: A Bristol University graduate, Clio trained as an accountant with Arthur Young before moving into professional recruitment. Clio was Operations Director at Legal Opportunities - a market leader in legal recruitment - for eight years, and she has more than 14 years experience in legal recruitment.

Stuart Frost

Areas of special expertise: Finance Recruitment in Industry and Commerce, as well as specialising in Senior Appointments in accountancy firms and within the wider finance market.

Previous career: Stuart worked in the Engineering and Computer industries as a Regional Financial Controller. He then moved to an international executive recruitment group. With more than 16 years experience in the world of recruitment, Stuart has placed executives at all senior levels, from Manager through to Partner, in a broad range of companies from local independents to the very biggest multinationals.
